ICRI in Croatia

Examples of ICRI's projects in Croatia:

  • Zaklada Dora, an agency created by the former prima ballerina of the Croatian Ballet to serve traumatized children, requested ICRI’s assistance in helping them expand rapidly to meet the needs of the increasing number of children who had lost one or both parents, seen their mothers raped or been victims of violence themselves. ICRI provided staff training on protocols for traumatized children, developed more effective tracking and reporting systems, computerized record keeping and evaluation structures and assisted the agency to grow from 1,000 to 5,000 children per month served.

  • ICRI was invited to assist in the development and initial training of the Hravatska Humanitariska (Croatian Humanitarian Network), made up of more than 100 NGO's working on humanitarian issues, primarily for families and children. ICRI provided three years of training on NGO infrastructure development, operating procedures, board development and operation, fundraising, program monitoring and evaluation, program development and protocols for traumatized children. The agencies involved now are some of the largest and most effective Croatian child-care organizations.
