ICRI in Sweden

The whole idea of ICRI was created in a meeting between child advocates in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1979. They identified a need for an organization that would operate as an international link between different groups and organizations working for children’s survival and wellbeing. In 2004, a regional office, ICRI Europe, was established in Sweden. ICRI Europe relocated to Norway in 2007, but continues to have representatives in Sweden.

Examples of ICRI's projects in Sweden:

  • ICRI’s Executive Director, Ken Jaffe, has given many lectures in Sweden representing ICRI. Here’s a link to an article about Ken Jaffe in Veckobladet – Borås University’s newspaper – from 1999 (in Swedish): http://www.hb.se/arkiv/VB/99/18/ken.htm

  • ICRI developed and ran a program for Barnepedagogisk Forum, including organizing a trip to the US.

  • ICRI has hosted different events in Sweden and at Swedish Consulates and Embassies. For example, in cooperation with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, ICRI organized a forum at the Swedish Consulate in LA. The deputy prime minister of Sweden was present at this event.

Our mission
